Finding the Calm
Finding the Calm
36x36" Mixed Media/Oil on professional grade gallery wrapped canvas, 1 1/2" depth
It’s interesting how the meaning behind this piece evolved as I painted it. I planned my source for this at the beginning of the year and have been working on this piece over 3 months’ time. For some unknown reason, I was drawn to place these two loving and content-looking tigers in front of a large waterfall.
Tiger fact: Tigers squint or close their eyes to show happiness, as they cannot purr. Since losing vision lowers defense, they only purposefully close their eyes when they feel comfortable and safe.
As I was finishing this painting, I realized the parallels between these two symbols. Such majestic, powerful creatures pausing for a moment, letting their guard down and feeling calm. Such a magnificent, forceful waterfall crashing down the mountain and fading into tranquility at the bottom.
Even the most mighty can…and should…find the calm.
